My Story

 

Ya’el strives to make Belly Dance more than just a dance technique. Belly Dance is a powerful healing tool that is available to all women regardless of their dance background

 

Ya’el Bella is a professional dancer born in Sydney Australia and raised in Israel by her New-Zealand mother and Israeli father. Ya’el grew up in the center of Israel, studying dance and theater from a young age, Inspired by her father who is an actor. Ya’el served in the Israeli army in the elit instructors unit, learning the highest and best instructing and teaching tools available. Ya’el continued pursuing her passion of teaching and dancing throughout her 20s while she completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology. Ya’el also studied Oriental and Belly Dance instruction for two years with Shosh Friedman and the Tel-Hai college providing her with rich and powerful teaching methods to teach women of all ages and backgrounds. She became a member of the famous Israeli oriental dance companies- The Oriental Rose, led by Shosh Friedman and Mohar, led by Mor Geffen. Ya’el performed and conducted workshops worldwide in Italy, Portugal & Cyprus. Ya’el’s long term dream is to become a dance therapist, utilizing her knowledge and passion to help women in need. In her current classes, Ya’el incorporates therapeutic and spiritual elements in her teaching methods, making sure the tradition of Belly Dance is well honored and respected, providing her students with more than just dance technique. Ya’el moved to Los Angeles with her husband in November 2020 and is teaching and performing all over the city. She is a member of the well known Sahlala Dance Company owned by Jill Collins.
